The Arizona Raptor Run group hosts an annual weekend of offroad trails and events based in Parker, AZ.
You are given the choice to meet the group in Parker on Friday afternoon, or you can join one of the two groups heading to Parker via a 180-mile route through the dirt. We, of course, joined one of the dirt groups. We started our trail around 10am and arrived in Parker just before 5pm. There were a couple of small holdups on the journey, including a flat tire and a blown coolant hose, but everyone worked together to resolve the issues quickly.
Once in Parker, we all met for dinner at the hotel and discussed the next day’s plans. There are three different options for Saturday. We opted to participate in the Wake 4 Warriors run. AZRR partnered with Wake 4 Warriors to raise money for the cause. As a thank you, the charity hosted us for breakfast and a morning on the river in one of their boats. This was a truly special experience. We ended the morning by taking everyone up a trail that led to an abandoned mine where AZRR had food waiting for us.
Our Saturday night ended with all the different groups meeting at P mountain for a family photo of everyone’s truck against the mountain. Overall, it was a great experience with excellent leadership. At the beginning of the weekend you are told if one of us has an issue, we all have an issue which helps demonstrate exactly how strong the community is within these Raptor groups. We were grateful and pleased to have been able to be a part of it all.
